Many wonderful “sister organizations” and resources in the Austin area naturally align with Swan Songs.

The following organizations and individuals may offer additional support to anyone facing major health challenges and the dying process.  We offer these links in the hopes of assisting you connect with services you might find helpful.  Please scroll down for more information.

Alzheimer’s Association – Capitol of Texas Chapter

Alzheimer’s Texas* provides information, referrals, and a variety of support programs for those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and their family members, caregivers and professionals. Alzheimer’s Texas has proudly served Central Texas since 1982.

Beverly McCune – Music Thanatologist

Music-thanatology is the care of the terminally ill and dying with harp and voice. Prescriptive music, delivered live at the bedside, can ease pain and suffering, calm agitation, bring deep, restorative rest and support the letting go process of the dying person and their loved ones. Two types of vigils are offered:  a processing vigil is appropriate at any time following a terminal diagnosis, and an imminency vigil takes place close to the time of death.

Family Eldercare

Family Eldercare offers relief and support to family caregivers by providing care to their loved ones in the home.  Our team of compassionate, qualified professionals provide a full range of services to ensure older adults remain independent and safe.

A non-profit organization focused on grief and trauma with the mission to assist children and adults as they move from loss to life, transforming their grief through therapy, support, education, training and consultation. The Austin Center for Grief & Loss provides services to individuals and families who have experienced a loss due to the death of a loved one from illness, miscarriage, accident, suicide, or violence; along with those who have experienced loss due to divorce or separation.

Dedicated to lifting the spirits of people facing challenging circumstances, Symphony of Soul’s musicians bring live music to convalescent homes, hospitals, centers for the developmentally disabled, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, psychiatric facilities, and shelters for women, children, families and the homeless.

The Care Communities

The Care Communities provides practical and compassionate support, through volunteer Care Teams, for people living with serious illnesses, such as cancer and HIV/AIDS.

The Christi Center

For 25 years, The Christi Center as offered free, ongoing grief support groups to children, teens and adults who are adjusting to life after the death of a loved one.

Wonders and Worries helps children cope when a parent faces serious or life-threatening illness.  They work with children and their families to provide an age-appropriate understanding of the illness, its treatment and side effects, and to help children and teens cope with the stress and fear related to illness in the family.
